Hey Bird Gang 👋,

How the story with Bubbles started?

Hi there! Olivier and Tim here. We are the co-founders of Bubbles. We met in high school, went to the same university, and eventually dropped out together to chase our dreams of building the Bubbles platform. Classic origin story right :)

Our very brief history

We started our journey as a sales and marketing agency for SaaS companies in The Netherlands, but pretty quickly started getting involved with churn reducing projects and improving the overall customer journey. We noticed more and more SaaS companies wanted to build a customer community environment because of the user acquisition and churn reducing benefits and before we knew it our agency turned more into customer community building as a service, than anything else.

We didn’t have the balls to right away build out the Bubbles platform and turn our agency into a software business, so we started researching the market. Before pulling the trigger, we spoke with over 200 community managers, founders, and customer success/support leaders – working at all kinds of SaaS companies.

PS: One of them was the community lead at Intercom. She now also has a seat on our board!

Why did we decide to build our own customer community software?

Why did we decide to build our own customer community software? After building multiple customer communities we noticed that regardless of which platform you built the community on, all SaaS customer communities have one thing in common – it is pretty damn hard to actually get your user base to be active and engaged in your community environment. No activity in your customer community means no reduced churn, no reduced support costs, no increased traffic and exposure with your target audience, and no lowered conversion rates.

The cause? No incentives for your users to go to your community environment in the first place and it being too high-barrier to go to the environment and participate. This is directly dependent on the core structure of the platform that the community is built on and no existing platforms were tackling this.

All in all, there was this stigma that the activity in your customer community was solely depended on the people managing and moderating it. The truth is that those teams were driving a car with square wheels.

We set out to build a customer community platform that naturally nurtures community engagement and activity from your users and therefore increases the benefits of reduced churn, reduced support costs, and increased user acquisition – as a result.

How does our platform do that you ask? By centralising 100% of your customer-facing modules like helpcentre, roadmap, customer feedback boards, and much more, inside your customer community environment, creating one go-to centralised hub for your users, and making the customer community searchable and usable from within your application, with our in-app widget.

How to make Bubbles work for your SaaS?

Create your customer community environment with one click of a button, migrate or copy your existing customer modules (help center, roadmap, academy, etc.), install the in-app widget, and you’re good to go.

You are getting all the native functionalities like Help Centre, Knowledge Base, Roadmap, Customer Feedback, and more as part of your customer Community Environment, so we’d advise you to fully host them there as well instead of just integrating or copying your existing modules.

The goal is to create one centralized hub for your users. Once that’s done, you can start tracking the number of deflected support tickets, saved support costs, the increase in CLV, and the decrease of your churn rates, directly from within your moderator dashboard inside the platform.

Will we be adding any cool new functionalities in the future? Of course! We are constantly releasing new features and expanding the platform.
