Iโm Alex, and together with Adrian and Alexis, we created AgainstData.com. We were all born and raised in Romania, an Eastern European country with a complicated past. Before 1990, Romania was under communist rule, tightly controlled by the Secret Service, which knew everything about everyone. Privacy didnโt exist, and that lack of trust scarred society deeply.
Fast forward to 2024: Romania is no longer a communist country, but privacy issues persistโthis time, on a global scale. Many of us feel like weโve lost control of our digital selves. Thankfully, laws like GDPR and CCPA have given us new rights to reclaim our data privacy. We built AgainstData.com to make those rights accessible to everyone.
How did we come up with AgainstData.com?
AgainstData.com was born out of frustration. Unwanted emails flooded our inboxes to the point where we had to abandon some accounts entirely. Companies harvested our data without consent, and both of my parentsโ bank accounts were compromised.
We desperately needed a solutionโand when we couldnโt find one, we decided to create it.
